Madura Tea switches all flexible packaging materials over to paper

Everything that was previously packed in metallized oriented polypropylene (OPP) has a new wrapper now – made of “Koehler NexPlus® Seal Pure MOB” flexible packaging paper with a grammage of 72 gsm. Or to put it another way, together with the Gundlach Packaging Group and Koehler Paper, Madura Tea has found the ideal packaging paper for its products in “Koehler NexPlus® Seal Pure MOB 72 gsm” with a mineral oil barrier and protection from MOSH/MOAH. And now, after several promising tests, the products are available on the Australian market.

The Gundlach Packaging Group and Koehler Paper provided Madura Tea with various test materials from the NexFlex® series of products. “Koehler NexPlus® Seal Pure MOB, which is made from 100% virgin fiber pulp and is therefore suitable for contact with food, impressed everyone involved thanks to its outstanding barrier properties,” explains Yevgen Zolotkovski, Sales Manager for Flexible Packaging Papers at Koehler Paper. Rüdiger Brinkmann, Gundlach Senior Sales Manager, adds: “Even though it’s uncoated paper, the printing results are excellent and really bring out the new environmentally friendly concept.” Like all other Koehler NexPlus® paper, “Koehler NexPlus® Seal Pure” is also heat-sealable, and its strength properties make it ideally suited for further processing on all commercially available packaging machines. “As far as we at Madura Tea are concerned, showing that we take our responsibility to the environment seriously by using reusable raw materials from sustainable sources is the right decision,” adds Madura Tea Head of Engineering and Technology Carsten Loemker when explaining the tea producer’s goal. With Koehler NexPlus® Seal Pure MOB, Koehler Paper offers a packaging paper product with a significantly reduced carbon footprint in comparison to conventional plastic packaging, not to mention that it also boasts the significant benefit of being 100% recyclable.
