PARAMETER A is not an ordinary card game. It is an artistic experiment – a completely new approach to making sound visible. Designer August Guccione transforms noises into visual forms, creating a game that uniquely combines typography, design, and sound.
Over 50 unique artworks inspired by sound
Each individual card presents an abstraction of the letter “A,” with each form representing a specific sound – from deep rumbling to crystal-clear tones, from rhythmic pulses to explosive bangs. The result is a fascinating collection of over 50 cards demonstrating the many ways sound can be expressed when given a visual form.
Sound comes alive with augmented reality
The real magic unfolds in combination with a smartphone. Using an augmented reality (AR) feature, the printed letters are animated – they pulsate, react, and move in rhythm with the sounds. AR enhances the real world with digital layers, blending both into a seamless experience. This technology is familiar from collectible cards or apps that allow users to place furniture virtually in their own space.

About the designer
In his work, August Guccione explores the interplay between sound, type, and visual systems. The card game is part of a deeper exploration of the relationship between auditory and visual stimuli. With PARAMETER A, he presents his most extensive work to date – a project that demonstrates how creative, surprising, and inspiring the world of sound can be when discovered through the eyes.
